In 1942, an American cargo ship named Liberty shot by a Japanese submarine in waters near the island of Bali. To rescue crews and luggage, the ship landed on the beach in Tulamben.

Until 1963, Mount Agung, the highest and largest mountain in Bali erupted. The lava from the Vulcano downward toward the east of the island of Bali and finally pushed Liberty ship from the shore into the sea about 25 meters from the beach. In 1982 the wreck of the Liberty began to become a dive spot and became one of the famous dive site until today.

From the first time became a dive spot, the ship wreck  changes in shape occur due to age and the changing of nature and ocean conditions. Gradually, this Liberty ship wreck was damaged.
