Approaching and Taking a Photo with Mola Mola and Mantas

It is never allowed to have physical contact with these gentle giants. Please have respect for the ocean and the aquatic wealth. You can never chase them because the more you chase them, the more they would swim apart from people. Never attempt to try as they swim very fast and even when they seem swimming gracefully or slowly.

You are advised to have your underwater camera or Go Pro. Set the auto focus on 1 to 1.5 meters and you will be able to take a photo of these sea creatures when they swim or pass by not using the cleaning position. The bubbles can scare them so you should look for the position that will give a good angle and then see where they go and be slow when you move.

When you see the Mola Mola on its cleaning pose, you could come close to it very carefully and avoid using flash of your camera. Breathe slowly to control the bubbles you can make. When a Manta swims gracefully within its cleaning station, it usually remains within the shallow water. This is making easier for the snorkelers to come close to them and take a shot with their camera. Never chase the Mantas and don’t touch them or scare them away. Just swim and hover as they may come close to you at times so just be prepared with your pre-focus camera or video recorder.
